Delete your UniBudz account
Last updated: 23 September 2026
You can delete your account and the data that goes with it at any time. There are two ways to do it. You do not need the app installed for the second one.
1. In the app (instant)
- Open UniBudz and tap your profile photo.
- Scroll to Danger zone.
- Tap Delete account and confirm.
Your account is deleted straight away.
2. By email (no app needed)
Email us from the address you signed up with and ask us to delete your account. Sending it from that address is how we know the request is really yours. We delete the account within 30 days and reply to confirm once it is done.
Email unibudzapp@gmail.com
What gets deleted
- Your account, profile, name, email address, university and profile photo.
- Your friends list, friend requests and blocks.
- Any location you shared, SOS alerts and location requests.
- Your saved bank or PayShap details.
- Your own shares and payments on group expenses, payments recorded between you and another person, reminders, and any proof-of-payment or receipt photos you uploaded.
- Your jols (posts), their photos, your likes, and your reports of jols and reviews.
- Your venue reviews, saved events, special redemptions, notification settings, and the link between this phone and your account for push notifications.
What stays
- Shared group history. An expense you added to a group stays in that group for the other members, with your account no longer attached to it. It is their record too.
- Mentions by other people. Your own lines in a group's activity feed change to "Former member". A line a groupmate created that names you, such as "paid Ryan", is theirs and keeps the first name you used.
- Suggestions and venue reports. Venues, deals and events you suggested, and problems you reported about a venue, stay so the listings remain accurate, with your account removed from them.
- Messages to us. Help messages and emails you sent us stay in our inbox until we no longer need them. Ask in your deletion email and we will delete them too.
- Subscription records. RevenueCat, which tracks Pro subscriptions for us, keeps a record under your old account ID, and Google Play keeps its own purchase records. Ask in your deletion email and we will have RevenueCat's record deleted.
- Counts with no name on them. Anonymous totals such as how many people viewed a venue.
- Backups. Our database host keeps encrypted backups for up to 7 days. Your data drops out of them as they roll over.
Two things deleting does not do
- It does not cancel a UniBudz Pro subscription. Subscriptions are billed by Google Play, not by us. Cancel in the Play Store under Payments and subscriptions, or you will keep being charged.
- It does not remove you from the website waitlist. If you joined the waitlist on unibudz.co.za, that email is stored separately. Ask in the same email and we will remove it too.
Delete some data, keep the account
You can remove a profile photo, a jol, an expense you added, a saved bank detail or a review from inside the app at any time. For anything else, or for a copy of what we hold on you, email unibudzapp@gmail.com and we will act within 30 days.
